GiveMe50

On October 1st, 2010, my dear country Nigeria marked 50 years of independence. On this same day, a dream of a greater Nigeria was born. This dream was tagged "Give Me 50".

GiveMe50 is an initiative geared towards mobilizing Nigerians both at home and in diaspora into initiating & demanding the changes we would like to see in the near future. Nigerians have asked its government and people to grant 50 of its wishes in the nearest future.

I have a proud advocate of this movement and ask that you please find out more and be a part of it. We all must do out parts in taking to the level we want. We must do what we can to march towards perfection.

Please join the movement by reading more on http://giveme50nigeria.com and doing your part. For more information beyond what you see on the well detailed website, please contact me at dazedfaze2000@yahoo.com or if you in Nigeria, you can call me at 08169232334.

Thank you for your interest in a better nation and better people.

The Comeback

WOW....Its taken approximately 7 months since my last post. I cannot explain the exact reasons for this but it happened. I know for sure one major factor has been my recent sojourn to my birth country and home, Nigeria. In as much as I shouldn't be apologizing for not using my own blog, I have to say sorry to those who were adept followers. I would make efforts to start writing again, though I cannot confirm the frequency or regularity of it.

Coming back to Nigeria has not only allowed me to rest, recoup, and recharge, it has also allowed me to get monkeys off my back(those who know me real well would understand this*wink wink*) and have a sincere smile on my face again. Since I got back,I decided to do my youth service as expected and I can tell you it was really fun. First, Abuja is my posting state but somehow NYSC decided to make me and many others, have the initial 3 weeks camp in Kaduna. Pissed at first but it turned out to be one joyful beautiful experience. My camp experience would be for another posting. Its all done now and the rest of the service year continues.

Got me a job with the federal government, working in the office of the Head of Civil Service. I can say its not a bad place to work at all. Not much to say on it yet.

Naija's little london, our Federal Capital Territory, is a very nice city and in as much as I do not want everyone to relocate here to spoil the exclusivity and also crowd the city, Id say if you really have to, Abuja is a nice place to move to. From multi lane roads, very minimal traffic, street beautification a major priority, it is a proof that Nigeria can be a peaceful serene nation.

Lastly, I would be doing wrong if I do not tell you of Dazedfaze's situation. I thank God everyday for giving me the dream that is DAZEDFAZE today. Slowly but surely, I have being trying to incorporate DAZEDFAZE ENTERTAINMENT in Nigeria. I will be keeping you up to date on the developments. For now, we have just been networking and submitting proposals to potential investors, hopefully this makes way for easy transition and dream realising....Just a recap, the firm is divided into 3 major subgroups

DAZEDFAZE PRODUCTIONS (Television, Theatre, Movies and Documentary)
DAZEDFAZE ARTISTRY (Talent Management)
DAZEDFAZE PROMOTIONS (Promotions and Advertising)

For those that like gist, I met this real fine girl and.... lol, see them, they want more...

Until next time, have a blessed week.

THINGS FALL APART

A simulation of a life drawn on the gates of Aso Rock
Classic case of perception vs reality
Wealthy individuals, starving nation
Corrupt leaders, vitiated people
Separated by the differing amount of zeros in our bank accounts
With men swinging their agbada saying, "one thousand, five hundred"
We need to account for the days when we would go to the bank
exchange one Naira for one Dollar
The days new graduates would get a job days after graduation
New civil servants riding around in their Volkswagen Beatles
United by the greed we all share in our eyes
A nation where things fall apart
From the soldiers in the biafra war
to the coup d'etat that eliminated Aguiyi Ironsi and Fajuyi in 1966
The letter bomb,
boom shalakaboob
kaboom boom pow pow
,
that spread the body of Dele Giwa in his living room on October 19 1986
As significant as the war shells that was left to fall apart in Ikeja cantonment
Not deciphered by the great mind of our past military leaders,
leading to
boom shalakaboob
kaboom boom pow pow
,
this time louder, as more bodies fall apart
Yet the president responds with, "We are a nation of millions of people. We thank God it is just a couple thousands, it could have been more"
Gone are the days when the Eagles were super
When Okocha would dribble through a defense like a snake in a maze
When Oliseh would drive a shot that tore the net like a knife in the hand of a hunter
Oh, how do I forget "SAP"
The devaluation of the Naira that sapped us of our strength as a nation
Religious enmity, clowned under the disguise of zonal leadership
Hause today, Yoruba tomorrow and Igbo never
Clever, but we smarter than that
By we, I mean the youth that are now willing to stand up
The ones who scream #ENOUGHISENOUGH on the streets of Abuja
All we ask is to #LIGHTUPNIGERIA
Yahooze has become the order of the day
On this day, I ask to have it in another way
Cultural Hegemony edges money in the mouth of my culture
People shutting their lips in reward for a meal for their family
They have become an ally to the destruction of self,
refusing to get emancipated from mental slavery
Shutting their eyes from the evil jungle justice they see
Triggered fingers fingering the guitar of the late FELA
Where are the men who would revive Kalakuta Republic?
Where are the men who would change the coil in the lantern when the oil runs out?
Yes, the oil will not last forever
Remember the strife of the Ogoni people
The public unquestioned hanging of Ken Saro Wiwa
I do not expect us to fall anymore to this kind abasha
Abacha might have drained our resources
Luckily, in many of us, the source is gained
The government has for long put us in a portmanteau of conundrum
They have played us hide and seek as all things fall apart
They express their ability to word play as they play with words
just that in reality, they are playing with our oblivion

One scene from UP NEPA

I thought it be nice to share with you all part of a scene from UP NEPA, the second production of DAZEDFAZE PRODUCTIONS. I particularly sincerely did not know how funny this scene was until I saw it a couple of days ago, but in truth, it made and makes me laugh a lot.
UP NEPA was a series of comical skit, that was put together to remind many Nigerians of home, for which many have not been to in years. The full video would be available soon and you can support the growth of your favourite local aspiring theater group by buying a copy, please contact me for a way to do that.
NSBE's 1st International convention is finally here, March 31st to April 4th, to be precise. You should be a part of it. Visit www.convention.nsbe.org for more details. It is sure to be a marvelous time.
If you cannot laugh too much, I advise you should not watch this video. Anyways, watch out for my next posting as I am currently working on my latest poem and I hope you guys would like it in advance.

Weird Days

Its been a long time Ive visited blogs ville. In as much as I miss it, I don't think it misses me but that is by the way. Kinda slept very early last night so here I am, 4am and I'm wide awake but I guess that is good after a couple of days with so little sleep and weird sleep patterns.
The last couple of days ve just been weird. First, I missed most of my calls on the weekend by seconds. When my phone rings, by the time I pick it up, its done ringing and the call is done and the sad thing is most of those calls were international, so I could not even call back.
Now the week started and I do not even know where I placed my charger and I do not want to buy a new one. Its kind of funny, having a phone, bills paid, in good condition but cannot use it because the battery is dead and you do not have access to a charger. I will set out to fix this, first thing in the morning.
UP NEPA, the second production of DAZEDFAZE PRODUCTIONS, following the success of THINGS FALL APART, is actually coming along very well. Venue is confirmed now(BRONSON CENTER, 211 BRONSON AVENUE), date and time is set( FEB. 26TH, Doors open at 6:30pm) and it only cost $10. I hope if you are in and around Ottawa, you can make it there. It promises to be very much fun as it is set to be a series of comical skits with inspiration drawn from day to day scenarios in Nigeria. From that guy that like to boast he has all the money in the world when he has nothing, to that teacher who likes to speak big big grammar( that is well, incorrect), you can be sure to laugh yourself off and TGIF. A relaxing end to a stressful week. For more information, contact seun@6133228086 or send an email to dazedfazeent@gmail.com.
In the last couple of weeks, I have missed my family more and more and feel the urge more to go back home, at least for a while. I hope that happens soon. Daddy, Mummy, Lola, Tayo, Femi, I miss you all so much dearly.
With the planning of this play, I have had to make a lot of sacrifices and put in a lot of work but I guess if you want something done well, you have to put in the work and pray that the efforts are rewarded which is one of the many reasons, why you do not want to forget God in all you do because "Man proposes, God opposes". If God does not bless your effort, then its not worth doing. Living a dream is not meant to come easy and I hope one day, I can climb up and be the GREAT DIRECTOR that I believe I can be.
It feels good to be back to blogsville and I hope I can keep up and stay in blogsville for a while. There is so much to tell you but busy busy is the man. Before I forget too, I am in dire need of a job, please if you have any hook-ups, that will be great. At this point, almost any respecting job will do.
